About me
I am the Director of Teaching and Learning Excellence and co-director of the Bank of America Center for Excellence in Learning, Teaching and Technology, and Founding Director of the Center for AI-Driven Learning and Community-Engaged Innovation (CAILI) at the University of Baltimore. My work focuses on helping institutions, educators, students, communities, and industry partners navigate the opportunities and challenges presented by artificial intelligence. My professional journey has spanned higher education, behavioral health, research, and academic leadership. Before moving into educational leadership, I spent 15 years as a psychology faculty member teaching courses in social psychology, research methods, and behavioral statistics. Prior to higher education, I worked as an addictions therapist and in clinical and research settings focused on behavioral health. Today, I lead initiatives that advance teaching excellence, faculty development, AI literacy, workforce readiness, and community-engaged innovation. Through CAILI, I work to bring together higher education, government, industry, and community stakeholders to explore how AI can be leveraged responsibly to expand opportunity, strengthen learning, and address real-world challenges. My scholarship and public engagement focus on the intersection of artificial intelligence, education, workforce development, ethics, and institutional transformation. I am a frequent speaker on the future of AI in higher education and have been featured in the Washington Post, Baltimore Sun, and MIT Technology Review for my work on the responsible integration of AI. At the heart of my work is a simple belief: technology should serve people. Whether I am working with faculty, students, organizational leaders, policymakers, or community partners, my goal is to help ensure that innovation remains accessible, ethical, and connected to the needs of the communities it is intended to serve.
