About me
Programme Lead CTL-AI, Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUas) Ines Springael leads the AI programme and Centre for Teaching and Learning at Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUas) in the Netherlands. She developed the AI Strategy Compass (AISC), a framework for strategic AI adoption in higher education grounded in years of institutional practice and practice-based research at BUas, and recognised with 2nd prize at the UNESCO Global Forum on the Ethics of AI in Education (2025). At BUas, she has built one of Europe's most comprehensive institutional AI programmes from the ground up — making BUas the first European University of Applied Sciences to deploy AI tools institution-wide for all staff and students. Her approach is grounded in the conviction that AI adoption is fundamentally a question of behaviour and culture change, not a technology problem. Ines is a member of the AIEOU Collab Labs at the University of Oxford (Domain 10: Governance, Policy & Systems Design) and has presented her work at UNESCO, Oxford, and international higher education forums across Europe. She is co-organiser of TLWAI Europe and a practitioner-researcher whose questions arise directly from the field.
